Study of heavy quark conserving weak decays in the quark model

Within the framework of a constituent quark model, we investigate heavy conserving weak decays ?c and ?b. This process involves elementary transitions us?du or s?udu¯ with as spectator, while for charmed baryon in initial state it can also occur via cs?dc to conserve flavor decays. It shows that symmetry (HQS) plays an essential role processes where acts spectator. For decays, dominance pole terms parity-conserving is evident. naturally explain sizable branching ratio ?c0??c?? recently reported by LHCb. The same mechanism predicts large ?c+??c?0. In contrast, ?b will only go through parity-violating because HQS. addition, ratios ?c+??c?0 ?b0??b?0 are predicted further experimental measurement.

THE ROLE OF QUARK POLARIZATION IN HEAVY QUARK FRAGMENTATION
We calculate the exact fragmentation functions for c and b quark fragmentation taking into account the spin orientation of the initial heavy quark in the form of analytical and rather simple expressions. Our calculations show that spin orientation may have an important effect on the fragmentation spectrum. This effect is more striking in the cases of c ?D, D*; c? ? , ? , and ?B , B *.

We present preliminary results from the CLEO-II collaboration on a variety of hadronic final states of mesons containing heavy quarks. In particular, the pattern of 2-body B decays is now decisively different that that of D and K decays; perhaps a consequence will be that τB− < B0 . We have observed ‘wrong-sign’ D 0 →Kπ decays, which are probably due to a doubly Cabibbo-suppressed transition.
